Description:

This pastoral scene depicts a row of evergreen trees, alongside a field, set against a backdrop of rolling hills. In it, one can sense the harmony of Nature and industry. Trees on the distant hills are just starting to turn to fall colors giving a sense of early autumn and the harvested field echos the theme that the farming season is drawing to a close.

The painting is almost divided evenly into two sections—the orange foreground and the cooler blue background—with the row of trees and the green grassy field serving as a transition.

Interestingly, the unobscured views and rolling hills are more similar to those found in Southern California (the artist’s home for 35 years), than in the Appalachian region, where vistas are often hidden by dense foliage.

Framing:

Custom framed in an Italian baroque 3.5 inch profile frame with distressed gold leaf and grey wash.

Provenance:

This painting has been exhibited at the Gallery at Studio B in Asheville, NC, the Design Gallery in Burnsville, NC, the Broken Road Studio in Asheville, NC, The Weisenblatt Gallery at Mars Hill University, Mars Hill, NC, and Mission Health/A-B Tech Conference Center.
